A little cafe in my town has this on their menu and it’s always been a favorite of mine!

1. Prepare oven and dish
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish with butter or oil.

2. Prepare bread
Butter one side of each bread slice with melted butter. (Optional: remove crusts for a smoother pudding.)

3. First layer
Arrange half the bread slices (buttered-side up) in the dish. Sprinkle raisins and cinnamon evenly over the top.

4. Second layer
Place the remaining bread slices (buttered-side up) on top. Gently press down to compact the layers.

5. Make custard
In a bowl, whisk milk, whipped cream, eggs, and sugar until smooth and sugar is dissolved.

6. Pour custard
Evenly pour custard over the bread layers. Let rest 5–10 minutes so bread absorbs the mixture.

7. Bake
Bake 30–35 minutes, until golden on top and the custard is set with a slight jiggle. Optional: sprinkle extra sugar halfway through baking for a caramelized crust.

8. Cool and serve
Let rest a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, or powdered sugar.
